The thumb drive bit in The Batman does a few things and shows the greatness of the film. First it's a call back to a previous scene letting the audience know stuff matters from scene to scene (Chekov's Gun is alive and well in the Batman); next it helps show how sadistic the Riddler is and separate him from the usual thugs The Batman has dealt with until now. And also, its meant to be stupid (Gordon's reaction prove it) so that you dislike the Riddler. He's the villain (obviously), but...

His motives are mostly just, the system in Gotham is literally broken and killing people. The police, the courts, the social services have all failed and the people are suffering. Without some of the stuff like cutting off a man's thumb to make a stupid joke, the audience might start siding with the Riddler and not the more authoritarian Batman

On a D&D note, can someone please explain darkvision to me? Especially when it comes to combat. If character without darkvision is in dungeon where it’s totally dark, does it mean they cannot attack or do anything since they cannot see? And if they are in a dungeon with dim light so they only have disadvantages on perception checks? Or are they also unable to do ranged attacks or even melee attacks as they cannot see enemies?

I think we’ve been doing guidance wrong. From everything I’ve read casting cantrips can be done as a bonus action so spellcasters can cast a cantrip and a spell on a single turn, thus someone can cast guidance as bonus action and search as the action on the same turn

Nah, spells go by their casting times so Guidance is always 1 regular action

Damn it, you’re right. It’s only the bonus action time cantrips and spells that can be combined together… where is the fun in that? But if you multi class into fighter and get action surge you can cast 2 spells on the same turn, but not worth it really…

Don't give anyone any ideas, we have enough min-min characters

Yeah I like to try terrible things but using Axe Insurance to get a cantrip off is so bad even I wont do it.

So I know you guys don’t like subtitles and there are a few scenes with subtitles in this film, but you have to watch Everything Everywhere All at Once! It’s got multiverses, fighting scenes, and most importantly so much love… Though sometimes if does feel like an acid trip

Also, I bet you guys have played all of these, but I have the 1-20 Waterdeep campaigns (Mad Mage and Dragonheist), as well as Curse of Strahd and Tales from the Yawning Portal campaign books and will happily run them for you if anyone wants ants to play those. I saw that Joe had the Candlekeep Mysteries campaign book. I’d be up for playing that too if people want to play that (and it isn’t the same one Joe is running with his other group). Of course, still up for rotating one shots

I have all those books too Val. I never liked how XP worked and in those modules you have the option that once you finish a chapter your players gain a level. It's a lazy way to DM but it works for me.

Anyone see the terrible action show on Amazon with Chris Pratt called Terminal List? It’s even worse than the Radical Jack movie with Billie Ray Cyrus that even Rifftrax could not save… But, inside the ridiculous plot lines and unending annoying flashbacks of the Terminal List lies a hidden gem in Episode 6 where Chris Pratt yells Leroy Jenkins and goes all Leroy into an actual combat… it still does not make up for the 8 hours of garbage
